Let’s kick off with a personal note. I’ve always been obsessed with money.
I grew up listening to my father saying almost on a daily basis something like that:
“In this world, it’s all about Money. Forget about idealism.”
And it’s true. Money is the only common measure of everything, the base of almost all social interactions, An entelechy that we humans use to communicate (trade), to define criteria and order things (prices), or to weight present and future (debts and interest).
Noval Harari expressed it perfectly:
“And yet, what is money? Again, money is not an objective reality; it has no objective value.
Money, in fact, is the most successful story ever invented and told by humans, because it is the only story everybody believes. Not everybody believes in God, not everybody believes in human rights, not everybody believes in nationalism, but everybody believes in money, and in the dollar bill. Take, even, Osama Bin Laden. He hated American politics and American religion and American culture, but he had no objection to American dollars.”
Exactly, money is the only global truth, the institution that has brought us out of the caves and into the era of Donald Trump. Therefore, something that deserves our full attention.
In this blog, as I try to do in my daily life, we will approach all issues through money, we will try to understand the world through savings and investment. Will you join me?
